Burden and Psychological Distress in Caregivers of Persons with Addictions

Addiction is a complex psychosocial problem that has significant effects on family members. The aim of this study to gain insight into the burden and psychological distress suffered by caregivers drug abusers. Ninety-nine hard addicts participated in study. test group consisted 50 participants control had 49 participants. filled out General Demographic Questionnaire; Caregiving Experience Subjective Objective Burden; SCL-90-R; WHOQOL-BREF. Caregivers who were preparing join community exhibited significantly higher objective burden, subjective stress greater comparison community, their quality life was poorer (p < 0.001). following showed be risk factors for distress: families with number children, marital, employment economic status duration addiction. protective better life, long-term marriage education level caregivers.
